Amtico Brand Releases LVT Made Using New Sustainable Process

West Midlands, UK, January 18, 2023--Mannington-owned Amtico has released a "bio-attributed" luxury vinyl tile flooring made from a renewable raw material derived from paper pulp.

The new Amtico Bio LVT is made using an organic byproduct of the paper pulping process that is turned into ethylene and then into vinyl, cutting carbon emissions by more than 90% compared to fossil fuels, according to the UK-based flooring producer.

Amtico produces the flooring solution using the "mass balance" approach, meaning that every time Amtico Bio product is ordered, the full amount of renewable material needed to make it is added into the company's production process.

The products then contain a mix of fossil- and bio-based raw materials, but the materials are segregated in bookkeeping, allowing Amtico to offer Amtico Bio as a certifiably sustainable product, independently audited by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification.
