Amtico Cuts Costs To Compete With Asia

London, England, Feb. 17, 2012 -- Resilient flooring maker Amtico International has been able to compete with cheaper Asian products by cutting costs rather than moving to more specialized production, according to a Financial Times story.

Before taking steps, Amtico said there was a 40% difference in production costs over those in Asia, but that has since shrunk to 5%.

The company is running more efficiently, organizing workflow better, reducing changeover times and keeping the machines running for longer, according to the Times story.

As a result, Amtico is moving some production back to the UK from Asia.
