AmericasMart to Present Rare Armenian Rugs at Wint
Atlanta, GA, December 15, 2005--AmericasMart Atlanta and Megerian Brothers Oriental Rugs welcome area rug and home furnishings retailers from around the world to Armenian Odyssey: The Heritage of Area Rug Excellence Rediscovered, a celebration of Armenian area rug artistry, rediscovery and resurgence.
Exclusively presented in a gallery setting in the 2nd floor exhibit hall of AmericasMart, Armenian Odyssey presents Armenia's finest new and antique area rugs, and cultural artifacts on loan from the renowned Sardarabad Museum. Erected in 1968 to memorialize the first independent Republic of Armenia, the Sardarabad is Armenia's largest ethnographic museum.
Odyssey is open to all market retailer and exhibitor customers from Thursday, January 19 through Sunday, January 22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Armenian Odyssey Gallery opening reception begins at 4 p.m., on Thursday, January 19 in the 2nd floor exhibit hall of AmericasMart. Local and Armenian dignitaries will be in attendance.
Additionally, on Friday, January 20 at 10 a.m., Dr. Lucy Der Manuelian, Chair of Armenian Art & Architectural History at Tufts University, will read 'Diamonds, Dragons & Crosses: The Story of Armenian Rug Weaving." The lecture will introduce attendees into the storied past and bright future of the Armenian rug-weaving industry. A complimentary breakfast will be served.
