American Hardwood Export Council Targets Exports t

Washington, DC, February 20, 2006--The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) has targeted $20 million worth of hardwood for export to India. The council is setting up its India office in New Delhi in the next six months. AHEC promoted $1,000,000 worth of hardwood exports to India in 2005. The council is organizing workshops in Mumbai and Bangalore on American hardwood lumber grading to the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) standard. Hardwood is sourced from trees of oak, walnut and cherry and is suitable for making furniture, staircases, flooring and kitchen cabinets.
