Altera Polymers Investing $4M in SC Plant
Seneca, SC, Jan. 26, 2011 -- Ohio-based Altera Polymers LLC is investing about $4 million to refurbish an old Propex plant to be used for formulation technologies in polyolefin, engineered resins and master batch technologies.
A portion of the company’s feedstock will come from recycled plastics.
The building has been empty since Propex, which manufactured nonwoven fabrics, closed it in November 2006.
Altera Polymers was formed in 2009. The company obtained a $1 million federal stimulus loan in 2010 through the Greenville-based Appalachian Development Corporation.
