Allegheny Contract Offsetting All Energy Use

Winchester, MA, March 17, 2008 - Allegheny Contract Flooring Inc. said it is offsetting its carbon emissions with carbonfund.org, one of the country's leading carbon offset organizations.

Allegheny Contract said it is offsetting every element of its carbon footprint, including commuting, trucking, heating and electricity.

Allegheny has also established a recycling program that has diverted over 3 million pounds of used carpet from landfills. Allegheny also recycles all of the plastic and paper packaging in carpet shipping, as well as blueprints and other papers and metals.

In 2007, Allegheny Contract joined the U.S. Green Building Council and now has LEED AP's on staff.

"Building construction is extremely energy intensive, but as Allegheny Contract demonstrates, simple and cost-effective steps can be taken to minimize the impact of human development on our environment," said Eric Carlson, executive director of Carbonfund.org.
