Home Sales Down 11.4% in May, but Still Rise Slightly YOY

Washington, DC, May 23, 2017—Sales of new single-family houses in April 2017 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 569,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, 11.4% below the revised March rate of 642,000, but is 0.5% above the April 2016 estimate of 566,000.

Second Alabama City Files Suit Against Carpet Manufacturers

Centre, AL, May 22, 2017—The city of Centre, Alabama has filed a lawsuit against carpet manufacturers stating that “past and present release of toxic chemicals, including perfluorinated compounds (“PFCs”), including, but not limited to perfluorooctanoic acid (“PFOA”), perfluorooctane sulfonate (“PFOS”), precursors to PFOA and PFOS” has impacted its drinking water.
