Wade Robinson of Wade Co Design: Design Ovations - Feb 2017

Growing up, my family moved every two years, and my parents remodeled each new house. As a result, I was exposed to a lot of different flooring types, as well as many different eras in flooring, from shag to all hardwood to sisal. These early experiences are the foundation of my design convictions regarding flooring.

Flooring, like other decorative elements, shouldn’t fight the original architecture of the structure, but unlike many other decorative elements, flooring is unique in that it needs to change depending on the room use. Flooring must be both aesthetically pleasing and fundamentally pragmatic. Luckily, there are many great products that offer this combination of qualities. I like to blend products for unique installations. Lastly, I feel strongly that there should be a cohesive flow from room to room. The flooring materials may change, but they need to work together.
