Precision H2O Creates School Logo

Spokane, WA, July 15--In the summer of 2004, the Cimarron Middle School of Edmond, Oklahoma, renovation began with the hopes of creating a more innovative building design. With approximately 12,000 square feet of interior renovation, the project gave JHBR Architects, Inc. of Oklahoma City, the design firm in charge of the project, much room to be creative. They took this creativity to the next level for the Edmond Public School District by producing a mascot mural that proudly displayed the Cimarron logo, the Panthers. This mural was intricately cut by the waterjet cutting abilities of Precision H2O. JHBR Architects, Inc. decided to place the 8 foot diameter Dal-Tile glazed ceramic tile panther mural outside of the cafeteria wall to become the main focal point when looking out from the school’s media center. For the mural, Precision H2O cut approximately 64 square feet of 6”X6” ceramic tile. Utilizing red, white, and black colors, the mural portrays the aggressive and powerful nature of the Cimarron Panther. The panther itself is depicted in black and white, while the background is entirely in red for a dramatic contrast. With this project, Precision H2O used their high pressured waterjet cutting system to cut the tile to be pieced together within the elaborate mural. Precision H2O has the ability to make precise and detailed cuts to create a clean, smooth edge with virtually any type of material, from tile to metal. Highly respected in North America, Precision H2O specializes in architectural designs, murals, logos, medallions, industrial parts, prototypes and custom projects. "Because of its highly durable and maintenance-free nature, tile was selected for most of the school’s walls," said Ashleigh Carpenter, the interior designer of JHBR Architects, Inc. "The Dal-Tile representative showed us pictures of designs that we could possibly use, and we were inspired to incorporate a tile mural with the school’s logo into our design concept." According to Carpenter, the Edmond Public School District was so delighted with the mural that they decided to call on Dal-Tile and Precision H2O for future school designs. Phase I of the Cimarron Middle School renovation, which included this mural, was completed in August 2004. JHBR Architects was honored to have this interior renovation named an Outstanding Interior Design by American School and University magazine’s 2005 Interiors Showcase.
