Tehran, Iran, August 18--An international exhibition of Iran's hand-woven carpet is to be held in Tehran soon. Over 360 hand-woven carpet producing, exporting and cooperative institutions and companies will take part in this six-day exhibition, according to the Persian Journal.
The exhibition will bring those involved in the carpet field together and will contribute to better understanding and supply of carpets that meet the consumers' needs and preferences.
An end has been put on the bulk production of the Persian carpet and grounds are prepared for more efficient role of the government in the production and exports of the commodity, noted chairman of the Iran Carpet Company Karimi, adding, "For these reasons, the prices have recently increased compared to the past years."
Referring to the international markets for the hand-woven carpet, he commented that some 35 to 40 percent of the world market for the commodity still belongs to the Iranian product.
He further referred to the removal of the existing obstacles to exports of this product, and said that positive measures were being taken and there was nothing to worry about.
Iran Carpet Co. and Persian Carpet Exporters Association, as the organizer of the exhibition, maintain that quality rather than quantity of the carpets displayed in the fair is going to be the main focus of the event.
According to the organizers of the exhibition, the unique event will provide a suitable opportunity for producers, exporters and buyers to exchange ideas.
14th Intl. Exhibition on Iran's Hand-Woven Carpet is to be held on 22-28 Aug, 2005 in Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds (TPIF).
