Mannington Commercial Partners with Tricycle

Calhoun, GA, January 30, 2006--Mannington Commercial announced that it will partner with sustainable design company Tricycle, to aid in its product development process, and to support a sample alternative program. Mannington, now in its 90th year, is known for stylish, environmentally responsible flooring products, while addressing the needs of the commercial interiors market. The company’s corporate goal to be a net user of waste, outputting less waste than it takes in, is evident in such products as ArtCraft modular carpet tile, made of pre-consumer (post-industrial) yarn, Relay resilient sheet flooring made from carpet tile frame scrap, and Infinity RE backing, with high recycled content from carpet tile frame scrap and resilient scrap. Tricycle’s Apso Jet Set, a product development suite and prototyping engine, will offer Mannington’s product designers the ability to collaborate, archive, view, and prototype carpet products with a minimal waste of resources. “Mannington was the first manufacturer to offer customization of products online. Our partnership with Tricycle will help us to develop the next evolution of that, along with a multitude of other enhancements to our product development process,” said Peggie McGee, Mannington product development director. Also in 2006, Mannington Commercial customers will be able to choose select running line and custom carpet patterns to order as Tricycle SIM samples, with 24-hour delivery. The NeoCon Gold winning, digitally modeled samples are color accurate and show the full range of yarn and tufting machine effects precisely. Customers can receive full scale prints and digitally installed room scenes for the early rounds of their pattern and color choices, significantly reducing wait time and the waste generated during the process. “We are particularly delighted to have Mannington as a Tricycle customer,” said Tricycle president and COO, Jonathan Bragdon. “In 2000, I had the privilege to participate in the development of Mannington’s innovative online tools. Today, we are able to build upon that foundation with industry best practices, to focus on the entire creative product lifecycle.” “Mannington is pleased to partner with Tricycle and know that they will be a tremendous resource as we continue to aggressively reinvigorate our product offerings on the carpet side. Their expertise matched with our current emphasis will truly strengthen our end results,” said Jack Ganley, Mannington Commercial president.
