Sacramento, CA, June 17--Flooring wholesaler LD Brinkman is liquidating its entire inventory including goods in its Sacramento warehouse, where it has laid off about 20 people, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Brinkman, based in Lewisville, Texas, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization at the end of April and recently received court approval to sell its $18 million in carpets, wood, tile, furniture, fixtures and other goods.
The local liquidation at 1430 Enterprise Blvd. is expected to close at the end of the month. The company still employs about 15 people in Sacramento, down from roughly 35 in April, according to an estimate by an official assisting with the closeout.
Brinkman filed for Chapter 11 after its sales plummeted to less than $100 million in 2002--far off its $420 million level just two years earlier. Brinkman primarily sold its products to retailers, such as Home Depot, and to various buying groups.
The company already has closed warehouses in Livermore, Houston, San Antonio, Denver, New Orleans, Jackson, Miss., Oklahoma City, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
