Karastan Makes Statement in Dining by Design

Dalton, GA, March 15, 2007--Karastan continually demonstrates its commitment to high style by participating in celebrity events. One such event is Elle Décor’s Dining by Design in New York City—a lavish affair where designers, celebrities, and the who's who of fashion convene for a night of style, excitement and spirited collaboration. Starring at the event are over-the-top table environments created by some of today’s biggest names, such as Waterford, Ralph Lauren, Lexus, Coach—and of course, Karastan.

Elle Décor’s Dining by Design fundraiser is a national event, held annually to benefit the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA). Karastan has participated in the event for the past three years, and for this, the 10th anniversary, the company’s theme was “Make a Statement”. To bring the concept to life, Karastan took common, everyday items, like soap, rubber bands, cotton balls and pencils, and transformed them into furnishings and walls. The entire space was ingeniously decorated by using typical items in atypical ways to “Make a Statement”. Karastan also had renowned performance artist/typist, Sheryl Oring, on hand to help guests “Make a Statement” for DIFFA, and later presented the typed notes to the organization as a memento.

Emmy-Award winning actress, Mariska Hargitay—Karastan’s Statement Maker for 2007—and her husband, Peter Hermann, joined Karastan’s table for dinner. Actress Jane Seymour, along with celebrity cookbook author and style maven Barbara Smith, also stopped by during the evening to view Karastan’s compelling tablescape.

“Dining by Design supports a wonderful cause while giving everyone a fun and exciting way to express their creativity,” says Elizabeth Miller, senior vice president of design. “Since we are always looking at things in new ways, we decided to create a table that reflects our innovative spirit and our unique ability to “Make a Statement. Your Own.”

This event gives us the chance to share a very special evening with celebrities and other category leaders,” adds Connie Berry, director of marketing. “We value this opportunity because it exposes our Brand to an audience that appreciates high fashion while further supporting the products and message we promote at retail.”
