Italian Tile Industry Recovers from Earthquakes

Bologna, Italy, June 18, 2012 -- The Emilia Romagna region of Northern Italy, home to much of the Italian ceramic tile industry, is showing significant signs of recovery three weeks after earthquakes struck the area, according to Ceramics of Italy.

Most of the tile factories were located away from the impacted area and are continuing to conduct business as usual, the tile association said.

A few of the ceramic tile manufacturers, including Marazzi, Atlas Concorde, ABK, Panaria Group and Moma, temporarily suspended production after the second earthquake but were able to avoid major damage.

Ceramica Sant’Agostino, which lost two workers and had two warehouses collapse, has delivered its most recent orders and hopes to return to its former production level soon.
