Gerflor & The International Volleyball Federation

Lausanne, Switzerland, October 22--Gerflor and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) have approved their future partnership. Gerflor, a world leader in indoor sports flooring, and the FIVB have agreed upon a four year exclusive contract covering all international competitions and will come into effect as of 1st January 2005. This passion for the sport is geared towards one primary objective: Think Volleyball, develop Volleyball "It’s a great pleasure for us to once again sign a partnership agreement with a company of such high and renowned professionalism. The fundamental reasons, which lead us to the current agreement is the fact that we are 100% confident as to Gerflor’s level of investment in research and development. We adhere to the exceptional quality of Taraflex sports floors. The aspect of safety is essential. Considering the comfort and safety levels of a Taraflex sports floor we are in complete harmony with the requirements of players," said Dr. Ruben Acosta FIVB president. The Taraflex, which in 1990 became Gerflor, and FIVB partnership, go back as far as the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. The relationship grew over time and was renewed up to the year 2000. This was a turning point in the relationship as both sides agreed to take a break. "This period of probation was necessary, and even beneficial. It emphasised the attachment Taraflex sports flooring has towards its core values, namely, the continuous technological advances (special playing surfaces which reduce the risk of friction burns when diving), the respect of our commitments through the constant promotion of sports flooring, and the quality of our product and services," enthused Marie-Christine Gillet, director of the Gerflor Sports Flooring division. The statistician Arnaud Bessat also gives additional importance to the sports flooring and affirms, "In theory and in competition a player will jump between 120 and 150 times during a match. When he does not possess the ball his attacks are not taken into account." Other parameters with a direct impact on the game are aspects such as a perfect footing, improved slide control and reduced shoe scuffing. With all these assets in hand Gerflor certainly has the recognition of the professionals.
