When a person walks into a space, the first material they usually come in contact with and experience is the floorcovering. Flooring sets the tone and is the foundation of a well-balanced interior space. Many new flooring products have evolved into usable finishes and patterns that can be installed in residential and commercial settings, and there are also older products that stand the test of time.

As a hospitality interior designer, the interiors spaces that I envision should not only be aesthetically pleasing but should also pass specific codes, abide by brand standards, fit a good production timeline and, the most important, meet the budget. Here are a few flooring materials that I’ve specified, installed or that have caught my eye.
