Domotex Launches Carpet Design Awards with Hali an

Hannover, Germany, October 26, 2005--Domotex organizer Deutsche Messe AG (DMAG) has partnered with the magazines HALI and Modern Carpets + Textiles (MCT) to launch at Domotex Hannover 2006 the Carpet Design Awards (CDA), a new competition for hand-made carpets. Domotex during recent years has showcased a growing number of designs, weaving techniques and places of manufacture, which in turn have generated a resurgence of public interest in newly made carpets. According to DMAG, they and HALI are constantly impressed with the ways that so many Domotex exhibitors, in both the contemporary and traditional sectors, continually adapt and improve their productions while maintaining competitive prices in the international market. The CDA are thus motivated by the desire of HALI, MCT and Domotex to draw attention to and reward the remarkable talent and creative energy that drives the hand-made carpet industry. The Carpet Design Awards will recognize excellence in the following categories: 1. Best modern design in the price range: less than Euro 100/sqm 2. Best modern design in the price range: Euro 100–250/sqm 3. Best modern design in the price range: greater that Euro 250/sqm 4. Best traditional design in the price range: less than Euro 100/sqm 5. Best traditional design in the price range: Euro 100–250/sqm 6. Best traditional design in the price range: greater that Euro 250/sqm 7. Best modern collection 8. Best traditional collection 9. Best modern innovation 10. Best traditional innovation 11. Best liked by Domotes attendees Entries will be accepted beginning September12, 2005. The deadline for all categories is Friday, November 11, 2005. The judging panel will contain such well-respected names as Allesandra Sorgato of B&B Italia, Italy; Ron Stewart, formerly of Liberty’s, UK; Matthew Bourne of Christopher Farr Rugs, UK; Ferdi Besim of Adil Besim, Turkey; and Ulf Moritz from the Netherlands. Each category winner will be awarded Euro 1,000 in prize money. The three best pieces per category will be on display at a special award presentation area in Hall 15 during DOMOTEX 2006. The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2006, at 5:00 p.m. in Hall 15. Domotex Hannover, which will run January 14-17, 2006 at the Hannover Fairgrounds in Hannover, Germany, is one of the world’s leading tradeshows for carpets and floor coverings.
