Clients of A&D Community Welcome at Coverings '

Alexandria, VA, January 26, 2007--Coverings 2007, the trade show and conference dedicated exclusively to tile and stone, is extending a very special opportunity to architects and designers attending this year’s Chicago-bound edition. For the first time in the show’s history, A+D professionals are invited to bring their VIP clients with them, free of charge. They can host up to two guests during the four-day run, April 17-20, at McCormick Place Convention Center. “Architects and designers play an integral role in the Coverings experience, and we wanted to find a meaningful way to acknowledge our support for them,” said Tamara Christian, CEO of National Trade Productions, the show’s producer. “What’s more,” she continued, “our move to the midwest this year puts us in the heart of one of the densest populations of design professionals, so it occurred to us to do something extra special for this segment. By opening the doors of our trade show to their clients, we’re supporting them in their work and business. We are delighted to be able to add this new initiative to Coverings and believe it will provide a unique opportunity for architects and designers to interact with their clients in an exciting new context as they view the best and most innovative the world has to offer in ceramic tile and natural stone.” Dozens of countries are represented among the 1,200 Coverings exhibitors, and the internationality has always been a major attraction for A+D show-goers. To take advantage of the “bring a client” offer, all an architect or designer need do is enter the name of the guest when registering online at www.coverings.com. Clients’ badges will then be mailed to them, along with their own. The only restriction, other than the two-guests per professional limit, is that hosts must accompany their VIP guests on the floor at all times. Naturally, any travel or lodging are at the attendees’ own expense. Christian reminded that the Coverings schedule is filled with other programming especially planned for the A+D community, including the awarding of $36,000 in prize money for outstanding use of tile and stone at the Spectrum and Prism Awards ceremony. It is part of the opening proceedings on Tuesday morning, April 17. The following evening, 6 until 8 p.m., Coverings and Interior Design magazine will honor architects and designers at an “Uncover Coverings After-Hours Soirée” at the celebrated Chicago Illuminating Company. Another show highlight for A+D is when renowned architect and Pritzker Prize honoree Richard Meier takes to the stage to speak on Thursday, April 19, 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. His presentation is just one of several dozen educational seminars--all free--for design professionals, with nearly all yielding CEU credits from either AIA, ASID, IIDA, NKBA or the State of Illinois.
