Cersaie Sets Three Records

Bologna, Italy, October 10, 2006--Total attendance over five days exceeds 90,000 (+2.7%), foreign attendance increases to more than 26,000 (+6.8%), number of journalists passes 600 mark for the first time (+4.1%) This year’s Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tiles and Bathroom Furniture held from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 September, has set new records for total attendance, foreign attendance and numbers of accredited journalists. A total of 90,949 visitors converged on the Bologna exhibition centre during the five days of the show, a 2.7% increase over 2005 and the highest figure since Cersaie became a five-day event. This 24th edition of Cersaie also reinforced the show’s international nature. Of the 1,060 exhibitors, 214 were foreign companies from 32 different countries, while the number of foreign attendees amounted to 26,411, 6.8% more than the 24,711 of 2005. This brings the share of foreign visitors to 29%, the highest figure for a Bologna tradeshow and one of the highest at a national level. The third record is the figure for journalists and information professionals, which passed the 600 mark for the first time since the first edition (total number of accredited journalists 604). The increase concerned both Italian journalists, up from 321 in 2005 to 334 (+3.46%) and foreign journalists, up from 259 to 270 (+4.2%). Following this positive performance, Cersaie is now looking towards next year’s event, which will be held in Bologna from 2 to 6 October 2007. This special 25th anniversary edition will feature a packed programme to celebrate the show’s quarter of a century of history.
