Brazilian Exhibitors Generate $22 Million at Cover

Alexandria, VA, August 16--The Brazilian tile and stone exhibitors at Coverings 2005 reported over US$22 million in revenue (5.5 million square meters of ceramic tile) resulting from business generated at the show. Over 30 Brazilian companies attended the show, occupying an area of 21,450 sq. feet of booth space and meeting suites, while receiving approximately 8,500 visitors. "While Coverings 2005 realized an impressive 10 percent increase in attendees this year, Brazilian companies more than doubled this amount in terms of total revenue from business conducted at the show. These figures reflect the quality and development of the Brazilian ceramic tile industry," said Adriano Lima, CEO, Anfacer (The Brazilian Association of Ceramic Tile Manufacturers). "Over the past five years, the amount of Brazilian companies exporting tile and stone worldwide has increased from 18 to 68 percent. Our products are comparable to any product manufactured worldwide and we continue to aggressively build the Brazilian brand." Ceramic tile manufacturer Pisoforte has participated in Coverings since 1999 and said the response to the 2005 show was exceptional. "We saw a 20 percent increase in business compared to last year's Coverings show," said Ubirajara Mattos, export manager, Pisoforte. "This year, Coverings selected Pisoforte as '2005 Best in Show' for booths less than 50 square meters. This is a great honor and we're proud to be recognized for our contributions to the ceramic tile industry." Incefra, a Brazilian manufacturer of wall and floor tiles, reported a 28 percent increase in business, with show revenue at approximately US$1 million. Ceramica Casagrande, one of the largest Brazilian glazed ceramic tile manufacturers, has also seen impressive results over ten years as a Coverings exhibitor. "We generated US$ 850,000 at Coverings 2005 because of the great success of our newly launched Amalfi and Marine lines," said Renato Casagrande, CEO of Ceramica Casagrande. "We are thrilled by the post-show response we've received across all key international industry segments," says Tamara Christian, Coverings' show director and president, National Trade Productions. "With attendees coming from all 50 U.S. states and 90 other countries, we're proving that once again, Coverings is the place where tile and stone professionals from around the world come to do business. Our team is already looking ahead to make Coverings 2006 another year to remember."
