Bostik Expands Line of Floor Coatings

Paris, France, December 5, 2006--Bostik is now incorporating the Agion antimicrobial into its Durabond D250 Moisture Vapor Barrier Coating and Durabond D261 Extreme Moisture Vapor Barrier Coating. Bostik began its partnership with Agion in 2004 and recently expanded its product line to include the Durabond D1400 Epoxy for adhering resilient and rubber flooring materials, providing further evidence of growing demand for Agion’s silver-based antimicrobial in the construction market. Agion’s products protect the coatings against the growth of bacteria, mold and fungus, especially in high risk environments such as food processing and healthcare facilities. “The Agion name is synonymous with safe, long-lasting antimicrobial protection, and we are proud to partner with this company,” said Scott Banda, product manager at Bostik, Inc. “We have incorporated Agion’s silver-based antimicrobial into three of our product lines and have successfully sold it into national grocery store chains and other leading retailers. The effectiveness of the antimicrobial, coupled with its proven safety and environmental friendliness, makes it ideal for our most demanding applications. We plan to offer additional product lines that feature Agion’s innovative antimicrobial in the coming months.” Bostik’s Durabond line of products has proven to extend the life of floors by protecting against the growth of microbes. The moisture-activated release mechanism of the silver-ion antimicrobial makes it especially effective in demanding environments that experience heavy foot and equipment traffic and where moisture control can often be an issue. Moreover, because it is naturally occurring, the Agion antimicrobial provides safe protection for the environment and for human contact. “We are thrilled to continue our close partnership with Bostik. It’s a great example of our aggressive growth strategy for this market where we build strong partnerships with market leaders who manufacture epoxy, urethane concrete, coatings, grouts and caulk for food and beverage and healthcare environments,” said Ginger Merritt, vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Agion Technologies. “Our partnership with Bostik underscores the fact that Agion’s antimicrobial has become the preferred solution for companies seeking high performance, low toxicity, environmentally friendly antimicrobial technology for demanding applications.” The Agion antimicrobial provides continuous and long-lasting protection from microbes by releasing silver ions to the surface at a slow and steady rate. This creates a self-cleaning surface that combats existing microorganisms as well as additional microbes that are introduced to the surface. The patented Agion antimicrobial technology is designed to last throughout the life of the product. Agion’s antimicrobial has been proven effective against a broad range of microorganisms, including bacteria, algae, and fungus such as mold and yeast, yet is safe enough for human and food contact. Agion’s antimicrobial has been approved for food and water contact by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is listed as an indirect food contact substance with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
