BonaKemi Earns More GreenGuard Certifications

Aurora, CO, July 10, 2007--BonaKemi USA, , has been awarded GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certification for hardwood and hard surface floor care products by the industry-independent, non-profit GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI).

Currently, BonaKemi is the only manufacturer in the industry to offer a complete hardwood floor finishing and floor care system GREENGUARD certified for indoor air quality. GEI established standards and testing for indoor products with the goal of improving public health by helping manufacturers build safer products. These products will not pollute the air with harmful levels of dangerous chemicals or particulates.

The more stringent standards for GREENGUARD’s Children and Schools program were developed because more than half of U.S. schools have poor indoor air quality, which is among the top five human health hazards, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Furthermore, children are much more susceptible to develop health problems due to poor indoor air quality because they breathe in proportionately more air than adults making them more prone to pollutants such as certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particles and allergens.

Consequently, across the country, school systems are improving indoor air quality for children and educators by specifying products certified by the GEI through the GREENGUARD Children and Schools program. These products meet the most stringent chemical emissions criteria defined by the State of Californias Department of Health Services Standard Practice (CA Section 01350), and also are tested for additional chemicals suspected of causing health issues in children.
