ASID Names Winners of Student Portfolio Competition

New York, NY, March 2, 2020-The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has named the winners of the ASID Student Portfolio Competition as part of SCALE: The ASID National Student Summit.

Sponsored by Benjamin Moore, the competition generates the best collection of student design in the nation and selects winners and finalists based on conceptual thought, content and context of submitted work. For 2020, the jury selected 13 finalists and three winners: Jessica Ma, Student ASID, Savannah College of Art and Design; Alexa Fombrun, Student ASID, Savannah College of Art and Design; and Mona Nahm, Student ASID, New York School of Interior Design.

Finalists presented their work in-person to an esteemed jury prior to SCALE 2020 in Seattle. The jury assessed each submission on concept, content, context, and execution. Jury members included some of the top industry leaders from prestigious companies such as: Benjamin Moore, Gensler, HOK, HKS, CallisonRTKL, HDR, Studio O+A, Perkins and Will, and ICRAVE. Winners were then announced on the opening day of SCALE, and each received a check for $5,800. 

2020 finalists include: Crystal Martin, Student ASID (Savannah College of Art and Design); Julie Kim, Student ASID (Savannah College of Art and Design); Jingyu Xu, Student ASID (University of Texas at Austin); Yu Cai, Student ASID (University of Texas at Austin); Amy Yu, Student ASID (Savannah College of Art and Design); Hua Tang, Student ASID (Syracuse University); Xie Maggie Hill, Student ASID (University of Texas at Austin); Seungmin Lee, Student ASID (Academy of Art University); Madelyn Holliday, Student ASID (Virginia Tech); Violette Chartock, Student ASID (New York School of Interior Design).
