April Retail Sales Rose 0.5% from March, Up 4.9% YOY

Washington, DC, May 14, 2026—Advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for April 2026 were $757.1 billion, up 0.5% from the previous month, and up 4.9% from April 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Import Prices Rose 1.9% in April, Export Prices Up 3.3%

Washington, DC, May 13, 2026—Associated Builders and Contractors reported that its Construction Backlog Indicator rose to 8.8 months in April, according to an ABC member survey conducted from April 20 to May 4. The reading is up 0.2 months from March and up 0.1 months from April 2025.

Producer Prices Rose 1.4% in April

Washington, DC, May 13, 2026-Construction input prices increased 1.7% in April compared to the previous month, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index data. Nonresidential construction input prices increased 1.8% for the month.
