Consumer Spending, Incomes Rise in July

Washington, DC, Aug. 30, 2012 — Consumer spending in July rose by the biggest amount in five months, according to the Commerce Department.

Personal spending rose a seasonally adjusted 0.4% on the month to mark the largest increase since February.

In addition, personal income rose 0.3% for the third straight month, while aftertax income rose by the same amount.
