Great Floors to Add a Washington Location

Olympia, WA, November 1, 2005--Great Floors plans to build a 50,300-square-foot store off Martin Way, according to a special-use permit filed with Thurston County Development Services, according to the Olympian. The Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, company operates a Great Floors at 5700 Lacey Boulevard S.E., Lacey. Great Floors operates 17 stores in Washington and Idaho, according to the company Web site. The proposed store would occupy 3.7 acres at 7540 Martin Way E. and have enough parking for 134 vehicles, according to the permit. Though the special-use permit was first filed in December 2004, the project still is subject to a public hearing before the Thurston County Hearing Examiner. That meeting is scheduled for next Monday at 10 a.m. As part of the development process, residents either living or doing business in the area were notified by mail about the proposed project. In response to that notification, Sandra Helton, general partner of the Tanglewilde Ltd. Partnership, said she welcomes quality retail development in the area. Helton said by phone Monday that her family owns land along Martin Way that is occupied by the Tanglewilde Business Park, the Tanglewilde Shopping Center and the Thompson Place Shopping Center. "I felt it was a nice location for a carpet place," Helton said about the proposed Great Floors building.
