U.S. Imports of Hardwood Plywood Surge

Washington, DC, August 1, 2022-U.S. imports of hardwood plywood have surged, though the growth rate is slowing overall, reports the Decorative Hardwoods Association.

In 2019, total imports (from Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia, Canada and Malaysia, combined) were 2.2 billion square feet; in 2022, 2.4 billion square feet; and in 2021, 3.2 billion square feet. 

The January to May rate for 2021 was 1.2 billion square feet, and for 2022, it was 1.7 billion square feet.
