Tai Ping Purchases Edward Fields
New York, NY, April 4--Tai Ping, the Hong Kong-based supplier of distinctive floor coverings, announced the acquisition of Edward Fields, Inc.
Tai Ping, founded in 1956 to preserve the centuries-old tradition of handmade carpets, has manufacturing facilities in China, Thailand, and the U.S. where highly trained artisans continue to ply the ancient crafts and extraordinary artistry necessary to create its couture hand-tufted and hand-carved rugs, as well as the superior Axminsters, Wiltons, pass-machine, machine-tufted, and woven carpets.
In May 2005, Tai Ping celebrates the opening of its flagship New York showroom and offices on the fourth floor of 860 Broadway, in the heart of the Union Square community.
Known as the creators of "the area rug," Edward Fields, the family firm founded more than 60 years ago, shepherds its world class reputation by continuing to produce custom carpets of the quality that its founder established when he delivered his first made-to-order rug.
Today, each rug produced by Edward Fields is a completely custom undertaking, and the firm is constantly adding to its seemingly limitless library of contemporary and period designs -- all of which are crafted exclusively in wool and/or silk. Edward Fields has seven showrooms: New York, Chicago, Dallas, Dania, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Like Tai Ping, Edward Fields is celebrated for an illustrious client list. In addition to luxury floor coverings for residential interiors, the two companies produce traditional and contemporary floor coverings for corporate interiors, hospitality use, yachts, and aircraft.
