Tai Ping, founded in 1956 to preserve the centuries-old tradition of handmade carpets, has manufacturing facilities in China, Thailand, and the U.S. where highly trained artisans continue to ply the ancient crafts and extraordinary artistry necessary to create its couture hand-tufted and hand-carved rugs, as well as the superior Axminsters, Wiltons, pass-machine, machine-tufted, and woven carpets. In May 2005, Tai Ping celebrates the opening of its flagship New York showroom and offices on the fourth floor of 860 Broadway, in the heart of the Union Square community.
