Solutia Announces Doc Award Winners
New York, NY, December 3, 2007--Solutia Inc. has named the winners of its 2007 Doc Award competition for contract interior design at a presentation at Rainbow by Cipriani in Rockefeller Center.
The competition recognizes outstanding achievement in contract projects that integrate color, space, form, function and materials, including carpet made with Solutia’s Ultron nylon 6,6 fiber, with consummate finesse.
The award, considered to be one of the architect and design community’s premier benchmarks of success, was given to four firms.
Also announced today were the 2007 winners for product design, awarded to carpet mills for outstanding achievement in carpet design.
Solutia introduced a new category to the Doc Award Competition: the Designer’s Choice Award consisting of a jury of more than 200 interior designers and architects from around the country who judged the product entries based on the same criteria.

Anthony Schirripa, AIA, IIDA, chairman and CEO, Avery Miyasato Handy, IIDA, senior associate, and Scott Harrell, senior associate at Mancini Duffy, New York, for the use of Spin by Constantine Commercial in the Time Warner Conference Center in New York.
Wayne Braun, Project Designer, Stuart Harris, project architect, Drew Patton, principal in charge, Ted Borel, assistant documenter, Mario Vellina, architect, Stephen Fall, graphic designer at Planning Design Research Corporation, Houston, Texas for the use of Bloomsberg Tuva Looms Weft in the Schlumberger Limited Headquarters in Houston, Texas.
Nicholas Luzietti, principal, Donald Dorsch, principal, Yong Kyung In, vice president, and Darryl Jackson, senior associate at VOA Associates, Chicago, for the use of Constantine Commercial Litterae and Moresque in the Dade Behring project in Newark, Delaware.
John Jessen, managing principal, Pablo Quintana, vice president, Brian Allen, vice president, and Richard Allen, principal at VOA, Washington, DC for the use of Sketch by Constantine Commercial and Karakul by J&J/Invision in the Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia
