Orian Rugs Expanding South Carolina Plant

Anderson, SC, July 22, 2010--Orian Rugs will invest $10 million to expand its Anderson plant with a 60,000-square-foot yarn plant with a weaving room.

The move reflects the company’s increased market share and growth in Canada and Mexico.

“We are fortunate that, despite the economic downtown, we have a strong niche market in the woven-rug business,” said Wim De Pape, the company’s chief operating officer. “But none of this would be possible if not for the great group of dedicated, hardworking people we have.”

The plant in Anderson opened in 1979 and employs about 400 workers. Rugs from the Anderson plant are sold at several large retailers.
