Mullican Lumber Closing West Virginia Sawmill

Ronceverte, WV, Jan. 7, 2009--The Mullican Lumber Co., one of Greenbrier County’s largest employers, plans to close its sawmill operation by the end of March, citing the slumping national economy.

Terry Brennan, director of sawmill operations, issued a statement saying the mill will cut back from two shifts to one and then cease production altogether within eight to 10 weeks.

About 77 employees will lose their jobs. The company said nearby Mullican Flooring will not be affected.

The Mullican Lumber is one of the leading U.S. manufacturers and exporters of lumber and has over 475 employees which produce and distribute American hardwoods in the U.S. and to over 60 countries.
