Mooresville, NC, Dec. 23--Lowe's Companies, Inc. announced the appointment of Michael Mabry as senior vice president of Distribution. Mabry joins Lowe's from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. where he most recently served as Vice President, Global Services. In this capacity, Mabry was responsible for supply chain activities for Wal-Mart's direct imports as well as other distribution functions. "We're pleased to add someone with Mike's depth of supply chain experience to our already strong distribution and logistics team," said Lowe's President Robert A. Niblock. "His background and expertise will strengthen a function that is already a key competitive advantage for Lowe's." During his 12-year Wal-Mart career, Mabry also held a number of increasingly responsible positions within distribution and logistics, including Distribution Center General Manager, Regional Distribution Center Manager, and Regional Vice President-Distribution. He received his MBA from Oklahoma City University and an undergraduate degree from the University of North Alabama. Mabry replaces Lee Herring, who recently announced his retirement from Lowe's after serving the company for 27 years. "Lee was part of the original team that began the transformation of Lowe's into a national retailing success story," added Niblock. "He has made a huge and lasting contribution to the success of our company, and we certainly wish him well in his retirement."
