ITW Names Speer President

Glenview, IL, August 9-- Illinois Tool Works has named David B. Speer, 53, president. In his new role, Speer will continue to report to chairman and chief executive officer W. James Farrell. Speer had been responsible for the for the company’s global Wilsonart laminate business units. The president's post is a transitional role to becoming chief executive, said John Brooklier, a spokesman for the Glenview-based company. ITW is a $10.0 billion diversified manufacturer of highly engineered components and industrial systems and consumables. The company consists of approximately 625 decentralized operations in 44 countries and employs some 47,500 people.
