Hunter Douglas Acquires French Sunscreen Fabric Ma
Upper Saddle River, NJ, August 2--Hunter Douglas has acquired 91.8 percent of Mermet and its global operations from the Mermet family.
Headquartered in Veyrins, France, Mermet is the world's leading manufacturer of glass fiber sunscreen fabrics. In September, Hunter Douglas will make a public offer for the remaining shares, which are listed on the French stock exchange.
Mermet had sales of EUR 51.2 million in 2004 and employs 360 workers. The company operates two plants, in Veyrins and Cowpens, South Carolina and has distribution facilities in Melbourne, Australia and Barcelona, Spain. Management will remain unchanged.
