HFN: Mohawk Acquires Brumlow Mills Division, Signs

Sugar Valley, GA, July 3-- Mohawk Home has acquired the bath rug arm of Brumlow Home and has signed a licensing agreement with designer Raymond Waites, according to a report in HFN. The weekly newspaper said that the tufted bath rug division, which does more than $25 million in sales in largely private-label products, fills out Mohawk’s upper-end offerings. Merle Johnson, vice president of marketing, Mohawk Home was quoted as saying, “Brumlow is such a quality company that’s very strong in better products, while we’re strong in lower and midlevel areas, so the acquisition gives us a broader selection,” The deal enables Brumlow Home to concentrate on its accent and area rug businesses, said Mitchell Brumlow, president and chief executive officer of Calhoun, Ga-based Brumlow Home. Most employees will be unaffected but there will be some layoffs”. HFN also reported that Mohawk had company signed a license with Raymond Waites to make printed area rugs, scatter rugs, wall hangings, coordinating pillows and throws. It said Mohawk will unveil a partial line in September and a full line in April. The price points will range from opening to high end.
