Finland-Based Parquet Maker Opens Russian Plant

Kuopio, Finland, Nov. 2, 2009--Finland-based Karelia-Upofloor Oy, one of Europe’s largest flooring manufacturers, opened a plant to produce parquet flooring blocks in the Kaluga region of Russia.

The amount of investments in Karelia-UpoFloor’s first Russian production facility totaled $9.4 million.
     
The new plant is designed to manufacture high-quality products meeting the European requirements for consumers in Russia and the CIS, though the company also plans to start export supplies.
     
Karelia-Upofloor Oy comprises four other similar plants in Finland, a raw material base in Romania, three plants to produce linoleum floorings and a new plant in Russia.
