Farnham, Quebec, Aug. 28--Domco Tarkett Inc. has announced its intention to change its corporate name to Tarkett. This move, which follows months of in-depth customer interviews and a global strategic survey, will serve as the cornerstone for additional brand initiatives to be unveiled at Surfaces in January 2004.
"Over the last several months, we talked to employees and customers to assess our diverse portfolio of brands and strong corporate heritage," said Ulf Mattsson, president and CEO of Domco Tarkett. "With virtually half of all North American product sales and the majority of global sales currently distributed under brand names containing Tarkett, this became the natural choice as we move to leverage our full potential in the marketplace."
Mattsson confirmed that Tarkett Sommer AG, Domco Tarkett's majority shareholder, also will use Tarkett as its corporate name moving forward.
"Moving to the same corporate name worldwide underscores our commitment to raise our global profile as a $1.5 billion force in the flooring industry," he said.
