Ceramic Tile Imports Rose 26% YOY in Q1 2021

Washington, DC, May 10, 2021-Department of Commerce data reveals that ceramic tile imports rose 26% YOY in Q1 2021, from 39.2 million square meters to 49.4 million square meters. 

The largest increases were from India (+88%), Spain (+34%), Turkey (+22.1%) and Brazil (+12.8). 

In Q1, the largest import marketshare was held by Spain at 20%, Mexico at 18.1% and Italy at 14% with the largest marketshare gain from India, increasing from 8.5% to 12.7%. Italian imports declined 3.4%.

Imports in dollars rose 20.3% in Q1 from $365 million to $440 million.

The largest increases were from India (+94.6), Spain (+31.6%), Turkey (+22.2%) and Brazil (+14.7%). Italy declined by 2.2%.

Says Donato Grosser of Grosser Consulting, “The ceramic tile market showed a great increase, especially for imports from countries selling low price products. The high end of the market is not doing as well.”
