Kansas City, MO, September 5, 2006--Not everyone named Dave would call his store Big Bob's, but David Elyachar's Big Bob's Used Carpet Shop in Kansas City has succeeded beyond Dave's dreams.
The Kansas City Star quotes David Elyachar, founder of Big Bob’s Flooring Outlet as saying, “You have to go back to our first logo. It read ‘Big Bob’s Used Carpet Shop.’ Take the Big, and the first letters of Bob’s Used Carpet Shop. Big Bucks, get it? I couldn’t have used my own name. I don’t think ‘Big Ducks’ would have sold nearly as well.”
According to the paper, Elyachar was a carpet mill representative in California and New York when he moved to Kansas City in 1983. So overwhelming was the response to an ad he placed to sell the old capet in his home, that he set up his own used carpet business.
