Tai Ping Launches Akina Axminster Carpet

Hong Kong, China, April 25, 2007--Akina is the newest contemporary Axminster and hand tufted collection from Tai Ping.  Designed with the modern hospitality sector in mind, Akina launches at HD Expo in May 2007.

Inspired by Japanese screens and vintage textiles, Akina’s bright and spirited patterns are just in time for spring.  Cherry and jade are paired with apricot and aquamarine to create a fresh colour palette.  The layering of textures is also apparent with Akina’s organic elements and geometric patterns.

The Axminster collection is composed of 30 complementary linear, floral stencils and Chinese maze patterns. The combinations are endless for any commercial application. Ideal for high traffic areas, Axminster is the most durable type of carpet available in the world today.

Tai Ping is also introducing a hand tufted companion to the collection, composed of wool, semi-worsted wool, and silk.  Tai Ping’s expertise in hand carving, high and low level cut and loop, sculpting and beveling gives the collection a multi-dimensional hand-crafted feel.   Vibrant flowers and latticework give rise to a backdrop of muted concentric squares.  Burnt orange, eggplant and avocado blend smoothly against bright turquoise.

“Akina was designed for our discerning client, who appreciates striking patterns evocative of the past as well as the present,” said Elliot Steel, Tai Ping US Design Director.  “The collection was designed for global application- whether in the Americas, Europe or Asia, we can envision this collection in a chic hospitality setting.”
