Winners of Antron Performance Awards Named

Kennesaw, GA, April 23, 2018-Set on a grand stage at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate in Orlando, Florida, Invista, maker of Antron brand carpet fiber, honored three Starnet Members during Starnet’s Design Award ceremony.

The Antron Performance Awards winners are the result of a joint partnership between Antron and Starnet, recognizing the use of performance-driven carpet choices in commercial applications. Entries are judged on the project’s outcome to meet the clients’ aesthetics, performance and sustainability goals.

Presenting the awards from Invista was Stacy Dobbs, Antron Dealer development manager and Scott Patton, Antron business development director.

First Place: The First Place Winner was awarded to Master Craft Floors, Inc. for design of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport using Mannington Commercial Carpet's Deep Thoughts II.

This busy airport serving a large metropolitan area needed carpet that would perform and have the longest possible life cycle replacement timeline. Results of a six-month performance test proved Commercial the installation.

Second Place: Second place was awarded to Acierno & Company, LLC, for their work completed on Aspen Dental in Denver, Colorado, using Atlas Carpet Mills' Livenza from its Bellissimo Collection.

Aspen Dental required a chic update for its office in a very upscale neighborhood in Denver. The carpet’s classic woven appearance and sophisticated colorway works with the new paint color to unify the dramatic architectural forms with existing cabinetry laminates, hand-made dark wood millwork, and the hand-painted metallic accent walls.

Honorable Mention: The judges also honored A&B Flooring Systems, Inc. for their design of the United States Naval Academy Hall of Fame in Annapolis, Maryland. The team selected Soft Tread from the Traction Avenue II Collection from Mannington Commercial, a high-performance carpet with a distinctly modern aesthetic for the highly visible hallways of the Hall of Fame showcase.

A panel of industry professionals lent their talent and expertise to this year’s panel and the selection of the winners: Lucy Nye, manage interiors, MD Anderson;  James O’Neill, founding principal, Inventure Design; and Steve Spencer, retired facilities manager, State Farm.
