UNILIN Flooring Industries Terminates Agreement

Dallas, TX, June 17, 2013—Flooring Industries, the Luxembourg based intellectual property company within the Unilin Group that licenses Unilin’s patented click technologies, has announced that it has terminated its laminate and LVT licensing agreements with Jiangsu Daou because of evidence that the Chinese firm is violating its contractual obligations.

This follows a spate of agreement terminations over the last few months. In all, Flooring Industries has terminated contracts with about 15 Asian producers.

Together with Välinge, which also licenses patented click systems, Flooring Industries developed a holographic label system for licensed products to protect the interests of the licensees that honor the agreements. If licensees sell glueless products without labels, they are in breach of their licensing agreement, and they are also liable for patent infringement in their home countries.
