Mohawk To Convert Plants for BCF Production

Calhoun, GA, Dec. 5, 2013 -- As part of its previously announced $85 million expansion plans for North Georgia, Mohawk Industries said it will convert manufacturing facilities in Dalton and Rome to handle bulk continuous filament.

The projects are expected to create 420 new jobs over the next two years.

The Mohawk facilities will be converted from yarn spinning plants to bulk continuous filament (BCF) twisting and heat setting plants to handle increased demand for its soft carpet products.

Mohawk will administer Georgia Quick Start, the state’s workforce training program, to train its current and new employees, and the hiring process is planned to begin mid-2014.
