Home Building Recovery Could Add 1.2M Jobs

New York, NY, April 11, 2013 -- As many as 500,000 jobs in 2013 and 700,000 in 2014 could be created due to the home building recovery, Bloomberg News reported, citing a variety of sources.

About half the jobs created by homebuilding are outside of construction, Bloomberg said, citing estimates by the National Association of Home Builders

More than three jobs are created for each single-family home built, including related work, Bloomberg said.

Single-family housing starts are likely to rise 18% to 632,000 in 2013 from a year earlier, and by another 26% to 796,000 in 2014, the story said.
