Wholesale Inventories, Sales Rise in August

Washington, DC, Oct. 10, 2012 -- Wholesale inventories rose in August and wholesale sales posted the first gain in four months, according to the Commerce Department.

Total wholesale inventories gained 0.5% to $487.5 billion, the government said.

Economists had expected inventories to rise 0.5% after advancing by 0.6% in July.

Sales at wholesalers rose 0.9%, the first increase since April.
