Solutia's DOC Awards Creator Larry Gillian Dies

Atlanta, GA, Sept. 7, 2012 -- Larry Lester Gillian of Newnan, Georgia died Sept. 5 in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

The Georgia Tech graduate retired after 30 years with Monsanto Chemical Company and its subsequent division, Solutia.

Gillian developed the contract carpet business for Monsato and initiated the "DOC" awards that recognize outstanding accomplishments of interior design in the commercial carpet business.

He was awarded the lifetime achievement award in 2001 for his work with designers.

The memorial service for Mr. Gillian will be on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m.in the sanctuary of Central Baptist Church in Newnan.
