Few Signs of Consumer Inflation in December

Washington, DC, Jan. 16, 2014 -- Consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.3% in December, after a flat reading in November, according to the Labor Department.

Prices increased 1.5% in 2013, down from 1.7% in 2012.

Gas prices rose 3.1% in December, the biggest gain since June.

Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, core prices increased just 0.1% in December.
