Consumer Sentiment Rises in June

Ann Arbor, MI, June 27, 2014 -- Consumer sentiment recorded a final June reading of 82.5, up from a final May level of 81.9, according to the University of Michigan and Thomson Reuters index.

Economists were expecting a final June level of 81.9.

"Consumers believe the first quarter decline in economic activity was due to the harsh winter weather, and that the economy has already returned to positive economic growth," survey director Richard Curtin said in a press release.

The survey's measure of current economic conditions rose to 96.6 from 94.5.
