Zwicker Named J.J. Haines President & CEO

J. J. Haines & Company, Inc., the second largest full line distributor of floor covering in the U.S., announced that Bruce A. Zwicker has been promoted to the position of President and CEO. J.J. Haines, a privately held company, has been in business for over 130 years. Bruce joined the company in June 2003 as president and was promoted to COO in June 2004. He assumes the CEO position vacated by Robert Thompson who retired in January 2006. Prior to joining Haines, Bruce was vp-general manager of a $700 million global chemical business, a division of Millennium Chemicals. His career at Millennium Chemicals and its parent companies included roles in sales, marketing, technology and supply chain. Mort Creech, chairman, said: “The board of directors and I are very pleased that Bruce joined Haines. Working with Bob Thompson to learn our business has helped Bruce become the second non-family member CEO. Bruce is ready to lead J.J. Haines and to grow our business. We are ready to grow.” Members of the Haines executive committee include Rosana Chaidez, vice president–supply chain, John M. Coakley, CFO, Fred J. Reitz, vice president–operations, and Scott D. Roy, vice president–sales. Haines distributes a broad range of flooring products including wood, ceramic tile, laminate, vinyl tile and resilient sheet and carpet. The company employs four hundred employees in its two sales offices and five warehouse locations throughout the mid Atlantic from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. The company’s headquarters is located in Glen Burnie, MD.
