Royal Thai’s Wardlaw Wins CRI's Joseph J. Smrekar Memorial Award

Dalton, GA, November 15, 2018-The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) presented the Joseph J. Smrekar Memorial Award to David Wardlaw, technical director for Royal Thai, at the annual membership meeting.

Mark Strohmaier of Milliken & Co. made the presentation of this year’s award.

Wardlaw’s work has been crucial to many different projects in leading the promotion panel and also contributing to both the regulatory work of EPR/CARE and the technically focused work of PP&S. He has also been in the trenches working in leading task groups that have done everything from refreshing the hugely successful CRI 104 and CRI 105 carpet installation standards to promoting CRI and the industry through blogger campaigns and social media.

The Joseph J. Smrekar Memorial Award was established by Milliken & Company in 1998 to honor the late Dr. Joe Smrekar who volunteered on many CRI committees. Dr. Smrekar set the standard for service to The Carpet and Rug Institute and the carpet industry. CRI staff members chose the recipient of the annual award.
